5 PHOTOGENIC LOCATIONS IN MALTA

Returning home with a great set of holiday photos is something we all look forward to. There’s a sense of accomplishment when you capture memories on camera, whether that’s candid shots of friends and family, or of those locations you’d always planned to visit.

One of the holiday destinations we’ve focused on for capturing those postcard pictures is Malta. A relatively small archipelago of islands, there are plenty of wonderful spots to photograph here. From the renowned Blue Grottos to the city of Valletta, you will create memories to last a lifetime.

April to May, and September to November are great times to visit due to improved visibility and cooler temperatures. So whether you’re a budding photographer or seasoned pro, let Malta be the place to inspire you next!

BLUE GROTTO

Made up of a number of sea caves along the southern coast, the Blue Grotto is a famous spot for tourists. The imposing caves are a natural wonder, adored for the reflections of sunlight on the sea in and around their structures. Boat trips run to and from here daily in good weather.

MARSAXLOKK HARBOUR

The traditional fishing village in southern Malta is a hub of activity thanks to the Sunday market that attracts locals and tourists. Some of the best seafood restaurants can be found here, while the bay is filled with brightly coloured Luzzu fishing boats.

ST. JULIAN’S AND SPINOLA BAY

Spinola Bay is part of the seaside town of St. Julian’s. The area is often bustling with tourists enjoy the local café culture and bars, while some of Malta’s popular hotels can be found in this vicinity. Balluta Bay beach is also close by and is a great place to catch the sunrise or sunset.

BLUE LAGOON

Found on the neighbouring island of Comino, this hidden gem boasts crystal-clear water and is perfect for swimming. This little slice of paradise attracts hundreds of tourists every day, usually by boat, with places to relax on the rocks and take in the views.

CITY OF VALLETTA

If street photography is your thing, you’ll certainly appreciate the charm of Valletta. The steep and narrow streets, tarnished building facades and multi-coloured balconies characterise the city. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Valletta is also home to some Malta’s historic gems including the National Museum of Archaeology, Siege Bell War Memorial and St. John’s Co-Cathedral.
